Ms. Kathy Prince-Williams Named Principal of ELC Brook Park

The School Board of the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township has unanimously approved the appointment of Ms. Kathy Prince-Williams to the position of Principal of the Early Learning Center at Brook Park for the 2021-2022 school year. Ms. Prince-Williams will transition to this new position at the conclusion of the 2020-2021 academic year. She currently serves as the Assistant Principal at Oaklandon Elementary School, a role she has held for seven years. She has fifteen years of teaching experience at elementary schools throughout the district prior to her transition to administration.
According to Superintendent, Dr. Shawn A. Smith, “I am confident that the ELC Brook Park community will be impressed with the experience and personal skills that Ms. Prince-Williams will bring to this role. Her extensive knowledge of both our school district and best instructional practices for young learners makes her an ideal person for this important position.”
A native of Michigan, Ms. Prince-Williams attended IUPUI (1998), where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a Kindergarten endorsement. She holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership (2005) and her principal licensure certificate (2013) from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Regarding her appointment, Prince-Williams shares, “I am honored to have been selected for this position and am excited to return to the Brook Park community.” She adds, “I believe my skill set aligns beautifully with the role of ELC Brook Park principal and I look forward to serving our youngest learners and their families.”
Ms. Prince-Williams and her family are Lawrence Township residents. Both of her children graduated from Lawrence Central High School and her grandchildren are current students.
